What we do

One trade, start to finish.

Most skylight jobs involve a roofer, a carpenter and a plasterer. We do the lot — so there's one person to call, one price, and no gap between trades where the job stalls.

01 · On the roof

Skylight & roof window installation

Fixed and openable skylights, roof windows and tubular daylight kits, cut in and sealed properly the first time. Tile, metal deck, Colorbond, flat or skillion.

FixedOpenableTubularRoof windows

02 · Weathering

Custom flashings for any pitch

Off-the-shelf flashing kits only suit a narrow range of roofs. We source and fabricate custom flashings made to your exact roof pitch and profile, so the finish sits flat and stays watertight.

03 · Inside

Ceiling framing & sheeting

We frame the light shaft, sheet it, and hand it back square and set-ready for paint. No second tradesman, no waiting weeks for the ceiling to get patched up.

04 · Supply

Sharp pricing on the unit itself

We buy direct from local suppliers and pass the trade price on. If you've already been quoted, send it through — more often than not we'll come in under it on the same unit.

05 · Airflow

Roof ventilation

Whirlybirds and powered roof vents to pull the heat out of the roof cavity — the cheapest thing you can do to take the load off the air con through a Queensland summer.

06 · Repairs

Leaking or foggy skylights

Old acrylic domes go brittle, yellow and leak. We'll assess whether it's a reseal, a new flashing or a replacement unit, and tell you honestly which one you actually need.

07 · Extras

Blinds, solar options & custom units

Remote-control blinds fitted to roof windows, solar lighting options, and custom skylights for the odd-shaped jobs that an off-the-shelf unit won't suit.

Which one suits your roof

Four ways to get daylight in.

Not sure which one you need? That's what the free on-site quote is for — we'll look at your roof space, your pitch and where the sun tracks, then tell you what actually works.

Fixed skylight

Maximum light, nothing to maintain. The default for living rooms, kitchens and stairwells.

Openable roof window

Light plus ventilation. Pole or electric opening, with a rain sensor that shuts it for you.

Tubular skylight

A reflective tube that snakes past trusses. Ideal for bathrooms, hallways and walk-in robes.

Roof ventilation

Whirlybirds and solar-powered vents that drop roof cavity temperature and ease the air con load.

How a job runs

Three visits. Usually just one of them is noisy.

STEP 01

Free on-site quote

We come out, get up in the roof space, check the pitch, the trusses and where the sun sits. You get a fixed price in writing — supply, install and ceiling finish, all in.

STEP 02

Install day

Roof opened, unit set, custom flashing fitted and sealed. Drop sheets down inside, and the roof is closed up watertight before we knock off — every time.

STEP 03

Finished ready to paint

Shaft framed, sheeted and squared up, site cleaned out. All that's left for you is a coat of paint.

Free tools

Work it out before you ring.

Three free helpers: how much skylight your room needs, a quick way to send Bryce everything he needs for a quote, and what to do first if a storm's just smashed your skylight.

How much skylight does my room need?

Pop in the room size. It uses a common rule of thumb: keep skylight glass to no more than about 5% of the floor area in a room with plenty of windows, and no more than about 15% in a room with few. Any bigger and the room can get too hot and glary.

What room is it?
Windows in the room now

A rough guide only. The right size depends on your roof pitch, where the sun tracks, the ceiling height and the unit sizes available. The 5% and 15% limits come from the US Department of Energy's skylight guide. Bryce will measure up properly at the free on-site quote.

Text a photo, get a ballpark

Tick what you know, then hit send. Your phone opens a text to Bryce with it all filled in. Just attach these photos before you send:

  • The ceiling of the room you want lit, from the doorway.
  • The roof from outside above that room (from the ground or the yard is fine, please don't climb up).
  • The manhole, if you know where it is.

Smashed or leaking skylight? Do this first.

Storms and hail are when skylights come off second best. Here's what to do while you wait.

  1. Stay off the roof. Wet roofs are slippery and a broken skylight has sharp edges. Leave the roof to us.
  2. Catch the water. Buckets and towels under the drip. Move furniture, rugs and anything electrical out of the way.
  3. Keep water away from power. If water is coming near a light fitting or power point, turn that circuit off at the switchboard and don't touch anything wet.
  4. Take photos of the damage inside and anything you can see from the ground outside. Your insurer will want them.
  5. Call Bryce on 0412 276 427. We make it watertight first, then sort out the repair or replacement.

Storm damage that puts people at risk (a tree through the roof, a big hole, flooding)? Call the SES on 132 500. Life-threatening emergency: 000.

Bryce and his subcontractor were fantastic to deal with from start to finish. They replaced our kitchen skylight after hail damage and made the whole process really easy. Communication was clear and reliable, the pricing was very reasonable, and the quality of the work was excellent. Everything was done efficiently and with great care, and Bryce even followed up afterward to make sure we were happy with the result. Would happily recommend them to anyone needing skylight or roof repairs.

A recent savage storm at Redbank Qld saw my skylight smashed — Bryce came out within hours of my call and secured it with sheeting to keep the weather out and was back the next day to fit a replacement part. He also helped out many other people in my retirement village with similar problems. Super efficient and friendly service from our local tradie, and a very reasonable price as well. 10/10 from me on all counts and he is now on my 'trusted tradies' list. Would I recommend him — Hell yes :)

Questions

The things people ask before they ring.

Do you finish the ceiling inside, or just the roof?

Both. We cut in and flash the unit on the roof, then frame the light shaft, sheet it and hand it back square and set-ready to paint. No second tradie, no patching job left for later.

Skylight or tubular skylight: which one do I need?

A standard skylight or roof window gives the most light and suits living areas, kitchens and raked ceilings. A tubular skylight is a small dome on the roof with a reflective tube down to a round diffuser in the ceiling. It snakes past trusses, so it's great for bathrooms, hallways, laundries and walk-in robes. The free size guide above gives you a starting point, and Bryce will tell you what suits your roof on the quote.

Will a skylight make the room hot?

It depends on the glass and where it faces. There are tinted and heat-reducing glazing options, openable roof windows let hot air out, and blinds can shade it in summer. Roof ventilation also helps pull heat out of the roof cavity. Ask about it at the quote. One reviewer's tinted replacement “works much better than the old one”.

My old skylight leaks, has gone yellow or got smashed in a storm. Can you fix it?

Yes. We'll work out whether it needs a reseal, new flashing or a new unit, and tell you honestly which. If it's storm damage we make it watertight first. See “Storm or leak? Do this first” in the free tools.

Which brands do you use?

We supply and install VELUX and Keylite roof windows (we're a certified Keylite and INFINITI installer for Natural Lighting Products), and customers have also had Redilight solar skylights installed. We also fit remote-control blinds to roof windows and offer solar lighting options.

Can I just buy the skylight from you?

Yes. We buy from local suppliers at trade pricing and can supply the unit on its own. If you've already been quoted elsewhere, send it through.

How do I get a price?

Ring or text 0412 276 427. For a ballpark, send a few photos (the ceiling and the roof from outside); the “Text a photo” tool above fills in the message for you. Then we come out and give you a proper quote on site, free.

Where do you work?

We're based in Springfield Lakes and work across South East Queensland. Past jobs have taken us to Redbank, Margate, Kallangur, Biggera Waters and even the Northern Rivers. Not sure if you're in range? Just ask.

Ring the mobile. Bryce answers it himself.

No call centres, no booking portal, no account to set up. Tell us the room and the roof type and we'll give you a ballpark on the spot, then come out and price it properly for free. Storm damage or a leak? Ring anytime — we'll get it made watertight first and sort the rest after.
